What is Myrbetriq and what does it treat?

Myrbetriq (mirabegron) is a urinary antispasmodic approved to treat adults with overactive bladder (OAB). This medication relaxes the muscles in the bladder, which helps to reduce bladder spasms. Mirabegron can improve symptoms such as urgent urination and incontinence. In children with neurogenic detrusor overactivity (NDO), Myrbetriq may also be used. In children, Myrbetriq tablets may only be used for those at least three years old. Mirabegron is known to cause a condition called angioedema, which causes swelling and can be fatal. Speak with your doctor to ensure this medication is right for you before starting treatment.

How long does Myrbetriq stay in your system?

After stopping Myrbetriq, it takes about 10 days for adults and 5 to 6 days for children for the drug to be fully removed from the body. Make sure you talk to your doctor before stopping this medication, since stopping without your doctor’s recommendation may cause symptoms to return.

When will Myrbetriq start to work?
