Spiriva (tiotropium bromide) is an inhaler used to prevent bronchospasm in adults with COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) and to prevent asthma attacks. Spiriva comes with its own handihaler inhalation device and works by relaxing muscles in your airways which increases airflow to your lungs.

What should I do if I miss a dose of Spiriva?
If you miss a dose of Spiriva, you should take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, then skip your missed dose. Do not take more than two doses in a 24 hour period.
How do I use a Spiriva handihaler device?
Load a capsule into the device and make sure that the mouthpiece has closed. Press the button on the side of the device to release the medicine into the inhalation chamber. You will need two inhalations to get a full dose from each capsule.
