Tradjenta (linagliptin) is a medication used to control blood sugar levels in people who have type 2 diabetes. Linagliptin works by regulating the amount of insulin that your body produces after eating. Tradjenta is a medication that should be taken as part of a diabetes treatment program which may also include diet and exercise.

• Your history of alcohol use.

• Tradjenta should not be used if you are under 18.

Common side effects of Tradjenta:

• Diarrhea.
• Runny or stuffy nose, sore throat or cough.

If you have any of the following side effects of linagliptin, seek medical help:

• Severe or ongoing joint pain.
• Signs of pancreatitis such as loss of appetite, vomiting, nausea, fast heartbeat or a pain in your upper stomach that spreads to your back.
• Signs of a severe autoimmune rection such as itching, blisters or a breakdown to your outer skin.
• Signs of a severe skin reaction such as skin pain which is followed by a red or purple skin rash that spreads especially to your face or upper body and causes blistering and peeling, sore throat, fever, face or tongue swelling or burning in your eyes.
• Signs of heart failure such as swelling in your legs or feet, shortness of breath or rapid weight gain.
• Symptoms of an allergic reaction including difficulty breathing, hives or swelling in your face, lips or throat.

What should I do if I miss a dose of Tradjenta?

If you miss a dose of Tradjenta, you should take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, then skip your missed dose.
